Bluepoint Construction and Meraki Resources, with support from K&D Logging, had the privilege of working alongside the Yekooche First Nation – a remote community in northern BC – to deliver critical infrastructure upgrades and create hands-on learning opportunities.
The project involved replacing approximately 400 metres of 150-mm sanitary main, building roads, and applying specialized poly grouting to manholes for water-tightness. Challenging soil conditions required significant material hauling to and from the remote site, adding complexity to the work. Despite these challenges, the team delivered the project on schedule and to a high standard.

The success was driven by strong collaboration. Meraki provided leadership, Bluepoint delivered technical expertise, and K&D Logging supplied equipment and skilled personnel. With K&D based just 72 kilometres away, their local knowledge and ability to mobilize quickly were invaluable, and with Meraki’s deep ties to Northern B.C., Bluepoint was able to leverage decades of experience and trusted relationships.
To foster transparency and connection, the project began with Bluepoint hosting a community BBQ – an opportunity to share a meal, answer questions, and allow Nation members to ask questions about the project. These conversations laid the foundation for a collaborative process.

Two local trainees were hired to work with the Bluepoint team throughout the duration of the project, a major highlight for everyone involved. Their hands-on experience in civil construction not only contributed to the success of the project but strengthened skills that benefit their own community.

Yekooche First Nation has long been more than a partner to Meraki Resources, they’ve been collaborators and teachers. It was a privilege to work alongside them, and their guidance played a key role in the success of this project. This collaboration not only delivered essential infrastructure but created opportunities for skills development and economic growth.
“Now the community has infrastructure that works and will carry them through for the next 50 years. That’s a massive win for the community, and we’re proud to have been part of it.” – Kevin Playfair, VP Operations South.
