The Opportunity
K&D Logging, a Meraki Resources Company, is currently looking for an experienced Skidder Operator. As a Skidder operator you will have the knowledge and will comply with all driver regulations. This is primarily field based position with limited office work and camp stay and overtime hours may be required.
Role and Responsibilities
- As an experienced Skidder Operator, you will:
- Maintain machines by oiling etc.
- Replace worn or old parts
- Ensure machine has enough fuel to complete job
- Always be aware of your surroundings
- Updated on the latest in safety training
- Clean up landing areas at logging sites
- Assist other logging and forestry workers
- Write daily basic progress report
Our ‘Must Haves’ that make you great
To be successful in this role, you will have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
- A minimum 2 years’ experience as a Skidder Operator in a high volume and demanding environment
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s license (or provincial equivalent to)
- Must be able to work in a camp environment with flexibility in shift work
- A valid OFA Level 3 First Aid Certificate is an asset
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Willingness to travel and work in an outdoor environment in remote locations
- Able to work cooperatively in a team, but also independently with little supervision
- Physically fit to endure the rigors of full-time fieldwork in all conditions
- Safe work mindset is required
- Accountable and dependable
